Today in class we read a Toltec Legend and students worked in groups of 4-5 to complete the various activities that went with the story. After taking notes, we practiced forming larger numbers and then completed some addition/subtraction problems. Next, students took the La Maldicion Ch. 8-11 book quiz. The last part of class we reviewed yesterday's grammar notes on Present Perfect tense. Students completed this practice sheet during class. We will go over the answers tomorrow. Next, students were introduced to their new vocabulary list on the Maya Civilization. We then reviewed prepositions of location and students did this map activity using the new vocabulary. Today in class we began with an introduction to the mini-novel "La maldición de la cabeza reducida" which is the sequel to the book "Los Baker Van a Peru." Here is the summary of the "Los Baker van a Peru" book. We then began reading Chapters 1-2 in "La Maldicion de la cabeza reducida." We first went over the chapter vocab and then read Ch. 1-2. I have attached the chapters of the book in CTLS under the Resources section for in case you are absent. Next, we reviewed TPRS Days 1-3 and I explained how tomorrow's vocab quiz is going to be. Today students will work in the following groups: Today in class students worked in groups of 3-4 and worked on a skit dialogue based on these instructions. Students had about 45mins - 1 hour to prepare their dialogue. Every group will present tomorrow (no, you do not have to memorize anything -- you'll just read from your papers. Make sure every member of the group has a copy of the skit).

Today we started class with some vpcab and Preterite conjugation practice. Students finished pages 1 & 7 from their camping packet if they didn't complete those 2 pages from the other day. Next, students visited conjuguemos.com and played the Graded Practice game. Your goal is to set the timer for 5:00, and then get a minimum of 25 correct with at least a 90% accuracy. At the end of 5:00 students showed me their screen to earn their 10 points and then moved on to the next activity. Next, students continued working on their Preterite Magic Books. The last thing we did in class was pull back out the "Se' Chevere" music video sheet, and on the back a basic recipe was printed. There were 4 recipe options, and you can view them all below: 1. Chicken Soft Tacos 2. One Pan Beef Taco Bake 3. Skillet Chili Mac 4. Skillet Ziti with Sausage & Summer Squash Students worked in small groups to translate the ingredient list and the basic steps of the recipe to Spanish on a separate sheet of paper using Ud. commands.
