Learning Targets: I will learn... 1. How access to technology impacts individuals and society. 2. How to write and talk about technological and scientific discoveries and advances. Today in class we talked about the risks of social networks and having open profiles as well as being aware of your digital footprint. We verbally went through these topic questions and then previewed the vocab for the cortometraje "Nu'mero Desconocido." You can find the video here: youtu.be/L-K9_Sc0TrE Here are the comprehension questions for the film. Lastly, we wrote an email (this is the 4th one you've completed on the Sci/Tech topic). How to write and talk about technological and scientific discoveries and advances. Today in class we started with going over the vocab and script for the cortometraje "Happy Cool." Lastly, we did 2 Interpersonal Speakings (the simulated conversations - Guillermo y Fernando) where students were recorded and we discussed the prompts immediately afterward. How to write and talk about technological and scientific discoveries and advances. Today in class we started with going over the vocab and script for the cortometraje "Viaje a Marte." Students had 15 minutes to read and respond to the prompt and afterwards we talked through the prompt and possibilities. Lastly, we discussed some elements of technology addiction and read through the 2 infographics below. We also looked into our own screen-time stats (messages sent / daily time spent using the phone / # of unlocks) and used Excel to tally our stats. Friday, February 3rd

Today was picture day - as there was much disruption to the 1st block schedule this day I passed back the Reading and Listening tests from last week so students could view their feedback. What I planned for class today was to finish reading this article on Plan Ceibal, which is rooted in the organization "One Laptop Per Child.". We also looked through the Plan Ceibal website to see their current initiatives and programs. Next, we went over the vocab and script for the cortometraje "Viaje a Marte." Today in class we finished going over the email task for AP test with the powerpoint that was posted yesterday. Next, students wrote a timed (15 minutes) AP-style email response. After completing the email, we started reading this article on Plan Ceibal, which is rooted in the organization "One Laptop Per Child." We talked through these previewing questions before reading the story and then completed the rest of the comprehension & vocab activities in the packet. Today in class we started with learning about the Interpersonal Speaking portion of the AP Exam. Students received these prompts and completed the practices in class. Talking to "Fede" and "Angel." Next, students did these 2 timed AP-style practice readings on the topic of Social Justice. We discussed the answers immediately afterward. Today in class we completed this cultural reading on "La Muerte". Next, we watched this music video and did this cloze activity with the lyrics. The last part of class we did a vocab review with Quizlet Live. Tuesday, January 10th Learning Targets Today in class I will learn... 1. Vocabulary related to social justice and human rights topics Today in class we finished defining the rest of the Social Justic vocab list. Next, we read 2 poems Los Pájaros Prohibidos and La Mejor Tinta. After learning about the authors and reading their poetry, students answered comprehension & interpretation questions.
