After the quiz, students toook the RITA 1 assessment in CTLS (Go under the assessments tab) Next, students completed this Kahoot activity on Hacer Time Expressions. Students took the quiz and then we discussed the answers and also addressed common mistakes on yesterday's Quia activity on Infinitive Phrases. About cultural topics and celebrations throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Today class students presented on their Carnival parade floats. We then voted by having students pick their top 3 pick. The class winner will go out to the World Language Department's competition to see who will win the best float in tomorrow's school-wide contest. After the presentations and voting we took notes on Stem-Changing Verbs. Here is the powerpoint with the information we went over today. How to conjugate regular -AR, -ER, and -IR Verbs Both days class students worked in groups of 2-3 to research a cultural theme or topic in the Spanish-speaking world. This week we will celebrate "Carnival" as a World Language department. Students will build a shoebox float to depict their cultural theme or topic and we will have a parade on Thursday this week where the whole school can come out and vote on the best float! You will have to write on the topic of describing yourself as well as your friends and family. After completing the translation sheet students had the rest of class time to finish their "Mi Familia Famosa" activity that we started yesterday. After the quiz, students worked in pairs to write a skit that will be presented in class tomorrow. You can find the skit topic on the final slide of this powerpoint. Students also received this paper that had the prompt and some writing space on it. Students worked in pairs to complete their dialogue. What are the Spanish question words Today in class we went to the language lab and used the classroom pictures students had drawn earlier in the week to practice speaking and listening skills. Students were paired at random and had to describe the items and locations of those items in their classroom drawings. The student that was listening had to re-create a drawing of the room and at the end the students compared how close they got to the original. When we returned to the classroom students had 2 Quia assignments to review the topics we've covered this week: 1. W04 - Practice with Tener and Tener Que: www.quia.com/quiz/8455132.html 2. What happens at the Running of the Bulls festival Today in class we briefly reviewed for today's quiz with 2 quick Blooket games. Next we took the Adjectives and Gustar + Infinitives Quiz. The last thing we did was learn about the Running of the Bulls Festival in Pamplona, Spain. Students received this reading and question sheet. The videos we watched are uploaded into CTLS. Thursday, January 18th Learning Targets: I will learn... 1. How to conjugate and use the verb "Gustar" 2. What Infinitive Verbs are and how to use them with "Gustar" Today in class we started with reviewing the verb "Gustar" (to like / to be pleasing to). Here is the powerpoint we covered today.
