We will resume normal class activities tomorrow. Tuesday, September 6th Today we used our laptops for the whole block. Students began editing their full Interview Project video/audio file and cut it into 5 different segments that were 3-4 minutes in length. Today in class we started by taking the vocab quiz over "Set 2 - La Familia." After taking the quiz we went to the computer lab and students completed this Quia practice of the Subjunctive in Noun Clauses. Today in class we started with these listening activities. Here are the 2 audio files you will need to complete it: Next, we began talking about the Subjunctive in Noun Clauses (WEIRDO clauses - Wishes/Wants, Emotion, Impersonal, Requests, Denial/Dount, Ojala'). Here's the notes powerpoint we covered in class on clauses of "will and influence." Students completed the W, I, and R sections of this graphic organizer. Next, we watched Part 2 of the Interview with Erik y Michelle from "Enfoque en la Familia." Here's the activities for the interview. You can watch the video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHEUZvdsml8. We watched the interview twice -- once for comprehension and the 2nd time to identify subjunctive use. Lastly, we completed this practice sheet on noun clauses. Use the noun clauses of the subjunctive to list 5-7 expectations and/or hopes that your parents have for your life. Today in class we read the lengthy article "Aspectos de la familia hispana" which delved into familial structures and roles and expectations within hispanic families. After reading the article we answered the comprehension questions and for the rest of the block students worked on this Subjunctive in Adjective Clauses sheet. Friday, August 26th

Lastly, students check out the digital recorders for the Interview Project and practiced using it. Wednesday, August 24th Learning Target: 1. How to conjugate verbs to the Present Subjunctive tense and how to use it in Adjective Clauses. Today in class we took notes on the Subjunctive mood! We started by watching this TEDTalk that explains what the subjunctive mood is. Next, we took notes on how to form & use the subjunctive in Adjective Clauses.
Tuesday, August 23rd Learning Target: 1. Use the Unit 1, Set 2 vocabulary to read, write, listen, and speak about familial relationships and common relationship problems and solutions. 2. Use the Preterite & Imperfect tenses to accurately narrate past events. Today in class we started by reading the article "La estructura de la familia hispana" and answered the accompanying comprehension questions in the packet. Next, students took the Preterite vs. Imperfect and Verbs like "gustar" grammar quiz. After the quiz, students had whatever time was left in class to study the Set 2 Vocab Flashcards. Monday, August 22nd Learning Target: 1. Use the Unit 1, Set 2 vocabulary to read, write, listen, and speak about familial relationships and common relationship problems and solutions. Wednesday, August 17th Learning Target: Today we will learn to... 1. Use the Unit 1 vocabulary to read, write, listen, and speak about interpersonal relationships and common relationship problems and solutions. Today in class students had the first 15 minutes to finish rehearsing their 1-minute relationship problem skit. Next, each pair presented their skit to the class. The last half of the class we talked about the writings that have been turned back in and general feedback provided. Students were also reminded that the Interview Project deadlines are fast approaching! At the very end we started defining the new "Set 2" vocab words for this unit. Here is the completed list in case you were absent. We will finish defining the words tomorrow. Tuesday, August 16th Learning Target: Today we will learn to... 1. Use the Unit 1 vocabulary to read, write, listen, and speak about interpersonal relationships and common relationship problems and solutions. Today in class we started with talking through these previewing questions for the cortometraje "No me ama". Students also received this question sheet that goes along with the movie. We watched the movie and paused periodically to check for understanding. New vocabulary related to interpersonal relationships Friday, August 5th Today in class we went over the answers to yesterday's "Gustar" worksheet. We then completed a short reading on "Conocer gente nueva" and did 2 listening activities. If you finish early keep studying the new vocab. Thursday, Aug. 4th Today in class we took care of "technology housekeeping." Students signed up for a Quizlet account using their CCSD emails and used the same username as their Quia accounts. Passwords were set to student lunch number followed by an exclamation mark (ex) 12345! Students had some time to study their new vocab. Students also made sure they could log into Quia. When we returned to the classroom we took some advanced notes on "Verbs like Gustar." Here is the powerpoint with the material we covered today in class. After taking notes students used the rest of the block to complete this practice sheet. Wednesday, Aug. 3rd Today the Junior class meeting took place during our whole class time, so we did not meet today. Tuesday, Aug. 2nd Today in class we went over the interview project packet.
